2006 Census Site Won't "Count Me In"
Using Firefox for Mac OS X, I tried the online submission process for the Canadian Census 2006 and discovered that I didn't have "the minimum requirements" to do so. A subsequent page even lists Firefox as one of the browsers I could download to fill out the questionnaire. Darren Barefoot has been recently complaining about technology companies shutting him out (Microsoft, Apple). Now the Canadian government's doing it! (Insert more exclamation points here depending on your level of outrage.) There's a boycott of the Canadian census because evidently Lockheed Martin was contracted to do the collecting, but StatsCan won't let me defy it.
I feel your pain. In order to pay some immigration fee to Canadian Gov., i had no option (sorta) but to use the dreaded, bloated Netscape for Mac.
First I filled out all the forms in Firefox but then was stuck on their browser dead-end so had to pause, download, install NS and restart the process to appease some outdated geek's petty preferences or undue security paranoia/concerns. Argh. Stand and be counted (but lie for fun ;-))
