Karl: “Vivant sans télévision depuis plus de trois ans maintenant à part quelques incursions rencontrées dans des cafés, des hôtels ou chez mes parents, la rencontre avec ces écrants géants est plutôt surprenante pour moi, presque dérangeante. Mon premier réflexe fût de prendre une photographie afin de partager cette nouveauté. Quel sera ma seconde réaction ? Vais-je être absorbé par cet écran supplémentaire, moi qui passe déjà beaucoup (trop ?) de temps devant l'écran d'ordinateurs.”

Karl is talking about a large TV screen showing a news program that he saw at a metro stop in Montreal. My translation of the above paragraph: “Having lived without television for more than three years no, with a few intrusions in cafes, hotels, or while at my parents' place, seeing these giant screens surprises me greatly; it's almost disturbing. My first reaction was to take a photograph so I could share this novelty. What will be my second reaction? Will I be absorbed with this extra screen, me who spends a lot of (too much?) time in front of a computer screen?”
