Urban Vancouver

Oh man. I've been using it for a couple weeks or so, but now it's live: we're announcing that Urban Vancouver was designed by Vancouver-area web god designer Dave Shea. That's me writing the announcement, and I had to resist using phrases like "jaw-droppingly beautiful" and "falling-off-chair pretty" to describe the design. Shane says he'll try posting every day to it, because, well, he can: if you sign up for an account, you get your own weblog and image gallery, and you can post comments with their name instead of having "Anonymous" attached to your name.

The site is more than "just" a weblog: it has forums, events, and, my favourite, a news aggregator divided into topics, like Vancouver weblogs, weblogs of former Vancouver residents, Vancouver foodie weblogs, Vancouver business blogs, and some even neighbourhood aggregators, like one for Yaletown, one for Kitsilano, as well as one for the West End. On the sidebar of the main site are links to the most recent entries and articles from Vancouver-area weblogs (it syndicates the LiveJournal Vancouver community among other weblogs). If you want automatic links to your recent weblog entries, you're a Vancouver blogger, and have an RSS feed, contact us and we'll link you up. I even wrote a how-to on syndicating Urban Vancouver content on your site.
