Makeover?
Laren: “I seriously doubt that participating in the column would do much for my dating life except increase the possibility of a free dinner, and I don't think it would bolster my professional image in any way, shape, or form. I have only told a few professional colleagues about this blog, and, in keeping with my general guidelines on subject matter of my blog, I have never written anything in it that I wouldn't be relatively comfortable telling them about in person. Not so with a review of a date, half of which would have been beyond my control to edit.”
I've told Boris that I'd be willing to participate in the Urban Vancouver Extreme Makeover. I don't share Laren's objection to free stuff in exchange for having a part of my personal life exposed (besides, I do that here without getting free stuff!), and nobody really knows me here in Vancouver—or at least I like to think that, but I get the feeling I have more readers in the Boston, MA area than in the Vancouver area—which in this case would be how I dress normally (T-shirt, jeans and running shoes) and how I would look with the aforementioned makeover. Evidently one of the things I need is a cowboy shirt (Boris' idea, not mine), and, after seeing a hockey player on a talk show wear one, I've said yes to that. Next comes the matter of shopping for one paying for it, wearing it, and showing the world.
Fathers, lock up your daughters when that happens.
