The Plutonium Of Hormones
Kevin Myers: “Mankind has always known that left to their own unfettered devices, young men are a toxic species, sexually predatory, and often pathologically dangerous. Two social devices were created to control young males as testosterone, the plutonium of hormones, began to course through their bodies. One was patriarchy, and the other marriage.”
Add this to the always-growing list articles arguing that the sexual revolution was bad for females. The whole thing is worth quoting, but the paragraph following the above is the most contentious: “Contrary to the standard and anthropologically-unlettered feminist complaint, the patriarchy was not a device for repressing women, but one for controlling the turbulent appetites of young males. The archetypal patriarchy, that of Abraham, exercised authority over his sons and his male servants, and their sons, but not the womenfolk.”
