Visors

You know, I tried looking at their about page, but there's way I can tell—other than asking them, I suppose, but nah—if the bloggers at Canucks Corner they're Canadian or not. Putting on the nationalistic blinders on for the time being (under the assumption that it would be a hard sell having a website dedicated primarily about the Vancouver Canucks and not being Canadian), the bloggers there cover Gary Mason's series on eye injuries due to the lack visors on professional hockey players. quotes from Cooke, Sopel, King, Linden and Keane is followed by a prediction that full face visors are inevitable, some highlighted Mason and weblog quotes, quotes from Canucks GM Brian Burke and NHLPA safety-committee member Dave Dryden, and finally quotes from non-Canuck NHL'ers Nolan, Fitzgerald, Sundin and Stajan.

Some NHL'ers don't seem to be too woried about the safety implications of the game as it pertains to the eyes. It's one of those things that require a change in the culture and the language: instead of arguing that it's safe to wear a visor, it needs to be drilled into players that it's not safe not to wear one. Unsafe is unacceptable.
